One John McCARTHY b 1837(there were many) married Caroline PARSONS in 1862 in St Botolphs Aldersgate. I can find a John MCcARTHY b1838, St Botolphs Bishopsgate Workhouse, the son of John MCCARTHY and Bridget MCCARTHY. In 1881, John MCCARTHY was living in West Ham with 7 children, born between1864 and 1880,(Caroline, John Charles, Fred H, Thomas E., William Michael, Caroline, Andrew E., and Ernest.) (My grandfather Leo Arthur, was born the year after.) John MCCARTHY'S sister, Theresa, was also living with them Her birth certificate shows her father as being Michael but John's marriage cert lists HIS father as John.
