    3. BECKLEY; ENG>HI,USA; 1770-1826 I am researching the family of a Captain George Charles Beckley who was a British seaman who sailed to Hawaii around 1804. I know a great deal about his life in Hawaii, his wife and descendents, but have had no luck at all in discovering his origins in England. He was an advisor to Kamehameha 1 and the commandant of the fort begun by the Russians in Honolulu in 1816. He was also said to have designed the Hawaiian flag. He married Ahia Kalaikumaili'eki'e, a native Hawaiian woman who was said to have been of high birth and herself a protege of King Kamehameha. They had at least 7 children. My great-great-great grandmother was the youngest child, born Emmeline Maria Guadaloupe Beckley. She was born on a sea voyage from Hawaii to the Bay of Mexico. She married George Ward Punchard on 23 July 1842. They had three children: Elizabeth Punchard born 10 June 1844 in Lahaina, Maui; George C. Webster Punchard born 1846 and Edward Punchard. Emmeline Beckley Punchard died in 1850 and George Ward Punchard died in Honolulu on 10 Oct 1852. If you have any information (especially regarding BECKLEY origins in England), please send e-mail to BarbPretz@aol.com. Thanks for your help! Barb
