    3. MUGRIDGE William; YKS,ENG; 1864 Would be grateful for any information or advice as to how to go about answering the following research questions. Master Mariner, William Mugridge died 'At Sea' on 16 September 1864. I eventually found him buried in Scarborough, Yks. I presume that his home port was Littlehampton as that was where his young family lived. He died intestate and the only documentation of his death are Letters of Administration granted to his wife Mary Ann. Effects £1500. (1500 pounds sterling) Three obvious questions arise from this mystery - 1) Cause of Death. Was the Ship lost off this treacherous coast, was his death of natural causes or maybe an 'inboard' accident? 2) What was the name of the Ship and which Shipping Line? Could it have been the local Sussex 'Robinson' fleet? 3) In 1871 Littlehampton Census Mary Ann describes herself as 'Ship Owner' but when she died five years later in 1876 there was no mention of a Ship in her will. Effects £600. (600 pounds sterling) Have been trying to find the answer to these two questions for nearly 20 years. My research efforts at Kew were not what you might call a success! Pleased to hear any ideas, theories and especially solutions. Elizabeth. mugridge@cancom.net Elizabeth Mugridge in Ontario. Researching Mugridge in Sussex Ridge in Northamptonshire
