CHRISTIE David; ENG; 1657 David Christie. b. 15 april 1657- d. 1729. minister and hospitalmanager Andrew Christie born to David Christie and Aleson Hamilton on 13 February 1697 in Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland. I found what seem to be the parents of David Christie (1657-1729) listed in some Scotish Church records (New at the LDS). They are listed as David Christie and LYBRA Hamilton. It seems odd that his mother and wife would both have the Hamilton surname, but I imagine Hamilton was a very common surname. Do you know anything about these two? David (Jr) was listed as being baptised on April 20, 1657 in Kelso. The other day I came across a copy of a letter written by Andrew Chrystie to (Alice Chrystie and Cadwallader Colden) from Moss, Norway. The letter was dated April 28, 1744. The decriptinon of the letter says that it was written to Andrew's sister and brother -in-law. To me, this confirms that your Norwegian Chrysties and my American Christies are the same family. Letters and Papers by Colden, Cadwallader New York. He was married to Alice Chrystie, sister of Andrew Chrystie i Moss og David Chrystie in Brevik, Norway. -- Vidar Holum, Landingsvn.132. 0767 Oslo Norway Telf. 47 22149307 [email protected] http://home.sol.no/~holum/ Member of DIS Oslo/Akershus, DIS-NORWAY and Norwegian Genealogical Society Please take a look at my relatives wanted page on: http://home.sol.no/~holum/holumgenealogy.htm

ROSE William, Mary; SSX,ENG / LND,ENG; 1825 I am searching for information on the surname ROSE. My specific interest is information regarding a William Rose, bn 1825, according to census records, the son of William, in Cocking, West Sussex England. I could not find any record of baptism in that area, however, I did find a reference to a William, son of William and Mary, baptized in St. Leonard's, Shorditch, London. Further data regarding the William I have is that he married an Ellen Town, approx 1850 and their first child, a girl was named Fanny. Any information as to siblings of either William or Fanny would be greatly appreciated. My information says that Fanny married one Frederick Robert Whit(e)bread. and raised her youngest brother Harry, my grandfather. I have not further info on any of the other siblings of this family save their names and birthdates/baptism dates which are available if needed. Any information regarding any others of this family or the otriginal William would also be quite well received. Sincerely, Rev'd Harry Rose "harry rose" <[email protected]>
