    3. ARMSTRONG,Mary; CAM,ENG; 1780-1840 WHO are Mary Armstrong's parents? Rev. William PEPPER, Senior, married Mary ARMSTRONG at Parish of Saint Andrew the Great in Cambridge, England. Their son , William became a minister and pastor of a church in Melbourn, Chambridgeshire, England and ultimately in Vernon, Oneida Co. NY. He not only baptized Elizabeth Ann Scruby, daughter of Joseph and Emma (Stockbridge) Scruby, but he was married to her on the sixteenth day of May 1824 Family tradition is that the Senior William Pepper was a minister of Church of England and upon retirement emigrated to Vernon, New York prior to his son and wife, Rev. William Pepper,Jr and Elizabeth (Scruby) Pepper's arrival in 1846 One of the many documents in possession of the family is an appraisal notification of the late William Pepper, Senior, dated 26 May 1849. 3. STANFORD,Hannah; CAM,ENG; c.1805- Desire to learn of parents/siblings/ancestry of Hannah STANFORD. Hannah STANFORD/STAMFORD m. 16 May 1824 in Melbourn, Cambs England to William SCRUBY (he b. 1805 and of Barrington ) Melbourn parish records date of m. by license. Edward Prime (half brother of William) and Jane Fordham (who m. William's brother Thomas in June 0f 1827) were Witnesses. Sometimes prior to 1850, Hannah and William removed to London where he was a butcher and a London Post Office Directory for 1849 lists William Scruby at "Royal William:" P.H. and the business was called McWhinnie and Scruby at "Royal Pavilion" P.H. Howick Terrace. Vauxhall bridge Road, city of Westminster. Could anyone tell me anything about the area ? Hannah may be the "Anne", perhaps derivitive of Hannah, b. 28 June and bp. 21 July 1805 in Meldreth, Cambs. This, however is speculation derived from indexed copy of Bishop's Transcripts and Registers 1599-1851. Hannah & William emigrated to America on Constellation, arriving in NY on 2 July 1850 and are found in 1860 census of Owatonna, Steele County, Minnesota. Their son, Thomas Caleb Scruby b. 8 Nov 1834 who was my great grandfather resided in Carrollton, IL most of his adult life. Would be happy to hear from anyone with more information for sequel to SCRUBY book. TIA sincerely, Pat [email protected]
