JESSOP George Henry; IRL>ENG; 1915 How about GEORGE Henry JESSOP (b??? Ireland?; d 21 March 1915 London aged 63). It was his real name, and his wife was Mary Alice JESSOP formerly HARRIS 'of 50 Marlborough Hill, St Johns Wood' at the time of his death George Jessop was a playwright, and he wrote a particulatly good libretto for C Villiers Stanford called SHAMUS O'BRIEN. Quite where he came from, I know not. He lived much of his life in America, but "inherited an estate in Ireland" at sometime in the 1890s and moved back to the right-hand side of the Atlantic. Where was this famous estate and why did he inherit it? And why did he then end up in St John's Wood. But most of all, who WAS he...??
