Military records document he deserted. Born 1753-1754. SPOHN Caspar, my ancestor, is said to have been a deserted Hessian soldier also, but no military records can be found with the SPOHN spelling. He was born 1758. I strongly feel, these two soldiers are the same person. My interest is, as to why we have a difference in the spelling of the names, or their meaning!
