LAMOTHE / LOUISEIZE / VELINO; ON,CAN/QC,CAN; 1905- Hi! I am desperately seeking some information on my mother's family. My mother was Mafalda Lamothe, born 11/10/1907, in Ottawa, Ontario. She was the daughter of Gilbert Lamothe & Amelia Louiseize. As I was told, Amelia died in childbirth when my mother was 2 years old (1909). I do not know if the child lived or died, but the name of Henri was supposed to have been given to him. Gilbert died when my mother was 4 years old (1911). She was placed with the Gray Nuns of the Cross in Hull, Quebec, until the age of 15. At that time, she was taken by an aunt ( Mercy Lamothe, sister of Gilbert) and they moved to the New Orleans area. Mercy Lamothe was married to Gustave Charles Velino, who was a world famous chef. He spent many years as Head Chef at the Chateau Frontenac in Quebec. In addition to Gilbert & Mercy Lamothe, there was also another sister Alexine, who married Frank Brousseau. They lived in the Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania area. This is all the information I have on this family. It is medically imperative that I try to learn more of these people. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
