BURROUGHS; CAN; 1900- BURROUGHS; CANADA; 1900- My Gt-Grandfather Samuel Burroughs died in Atlantic City NJ in 1919. Prior to that he was a police inspector in Manchester, retiring in 1895. He had two wives, his second named Annie Jane and two sons John Charles and Louis George, plus a half-brother Frederick and a daughter Margaret. However, family legend has it that the family actually went to Canada and one of them worked for GM. Certainly a Burroughs came over to the UK as part of the Canadian Amry during the war and visited my Grandmother Frances Alice Burroughs in Manchester.
