BURNETT, Alexander & Margaret; IRL>NB,CAN; 1791 Looking for information on my gggg gf Alexander Burnett who emigrated to Canada in 1816 with his wife Margaret. He may have been a veteran of the Battle of Waterloo since he was granted land in an area reserved for veterans. The area was first called Waterloo but the name was changed to Irish Settlement and Joliff Brook. He is listed as a British citizen and was Presbyterian. He was also an educated man. He was a wheelmaster at first and then became a Deputy-Surveyor. He arrived in Canada with only his wife Margaret-all children were apparently born here. Both he and Margaret were born in 1790 or 1791, county unknown. The information I have on his descendants can be found at http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Atrium/9141/index.html. I am seeking information on possible siblings of his-there may have been a James Burnett who went to the USA.
