HOLMES,William Charles; Gainsborough,LIN,ENG; 1852 According to the 1881 census and St Cath's Index William Holmes was born in Gainsborough. He was married there in 1870 to Fanny Clarke who was born in Whittington near Chesterfield in DBY. His first 2 children, Annie and William were also born in Gainsborough in 1872 and 1874 but the next three were born in Whittington, Lydia in 1876, Ada in 1879 and George my grandfather1882. I recently wrote to the Gainsborough Record Office for certificates of William's birth and his marriage but there was no record of either. Can any one please help me with this family.
