Re: HORN / L'OBGERE; Strasbourg, DEU> CAN; c.1750 Dear Bill: I would write to: Evangelische Gemeinde Protestant Church Darmstadt/Hessen Darmstadt/Hessen Germany Germany In Germany the local churches keep Birth,Marriage and Death registries. If Johann Horn is from Darmstadt, it should be no problem for them to locate the entry in the birth registry, which will show his father and mother. Another source of information are the guild-registries for every town. You list the profession of John Horn as butcher. As such he would have been at least a journeyman and should have been registered with his guild. The guild books are now normally in the local city archives. Write to: Stadtarchiv Darmstadt Darmstadt/Hessen Germany The church as well as the City-archive will assess you some search fees. Good Luck Roger M.Eckoldt(Dartmouth N.S.)
