Clues so far: Born, 13 June 1886, Hatherup, Glos. Mother: Matilda (nee DAGGER) born: Box,1854 Father: William SMELLING, no other details known Occupation: Shown on Geo's birth record.. Gamekeeper 1881 Census: Neither William or Matilda appear anywhere 1891 Census: Baby Geo (5y/o) living with g/parents George & Catherine DAGGER at Box, Wilts No marriage found for William & Matilda, but believed to have been at Chippenham, about June 1880 Found: Birth record of William SMELLING, b.18 Aug,1820, Bathwick, Baseborn, Mother Elizabeth SMELLING, Servant Would presume that this is the father to William, otherwise he must have been extremely virile !!
