    3. ROSE William; NY,USA; 1747-1802 Researching William ROSE (1747-1802): William was born in 1747 in Little Britain, Orange County, NY. In the time of the Revolutionary War he was commissioned a Captain to enlist a company of soldiers to serve in that war, and, after it ended, he became Captain of a company of militia. He died in 1802, and is supposed to be buried in Plains Cemetery, Mount Hope, Orange County, NY. ==================== William married Mary DeWitt, 17-May-1774, in New Windsor Presbyterian Church, Orange County, NY. They had 12 children. She was born in 1756 in Ulster County, NY, the daughter of Jacob Rutsen DeWitt and Janneke Depuy. She was the oldest sister of Moses DeWitt. She died 9-Jul-1839 in Onondaga County, NY. ===================== The grave of Captain William Rose was located in the Mount Hope Plains Cemetery. The inscription read "Capt. William Rose - Revolutionary War - 1747 - 1802". ===================== per. Rev.
