    3. SIMONS Charles; MS,USA>KS,USA>TX,USA; 1844-1896 Looking for any information on Charles SIMONS (SIMONDS, SIMMONS, etc.) who was born c1844 in Mississippi and was enumerated with wife Martha SNOW in the 1870 Marion Co, Kansas census. They moved to Texas where he was said to have died in Kaufman County in 1896. In the census (1880 Burnet Co TX p164), he said his parents were born in North Carolina. Is he the Charley P. Simons in the Charles and Martha Simons of NC household in the 1850 Chickasaw Co., MS, census? There are stories that his family was wiped out by smallpox while living in the midwest. There is also a story that a near-ancestor of Charles was a male Irish BUCHANAN who married a female English SIMONDS and he took her name when emigrating. Children were named Mary Jane, Sarah Elizabeth, John Wesley, Henry Clay, William Earl, Jesse James, Myrtle, Lillie Maud, Willie (f.), George, and Frank Hicks. Henry Clay is my line. For more information on Charles' descendants, please see http://www.hypertree.com/simonds/. Thanks! Shari shari@viptx.net
