WELLS Vashti; MS,USA>LA,USA; 1833-1920 Looking for information on Vashti WELLS. She was said to have been born 3 December 1833 in Mississippi. She may have married her first husband, Joseph SMITH, there or in central Louisiana on 26 June 1857. She died in Lecompte, Rapides Parish, LA, on 11 March 1920. Although she gives her birthplace as Mississippi, the family story is that she may have been raised in the Glenmora, LA, area. I feel she may also tie into the area WELLS who married her husband's SMITH relations. She remarried to Anderson Lenard CHAFIN on 1 September 1864. Children with Joseph: Emma, Samanthy, Abe, Kenneth McKenzy, Joseph Richard Children with A.L.: Jessey, George, Cornelia Lovonia, Idonia, Sauphronia.
