VALERIUS, Valentine; DEU>Minnesota, USA; c 1824 Looking for information pertaining to Valentine (Valentin?) Valerius. In particular his siblings, parents, and ancestors in Germany. Place of origin is believed to be Erdorf Germany. His parents are thought to be a Joachim & Margerete Valerius. We also believe we have found one brother: A Wilhelm Valerius. I have no documentation to prove or disprove his parents or brother. He married a Maria Bichel (Buchel) in 1856. They had 11 children. The following was obtained from his obituary, ships manifest (suspect), and service record: Obituary of Valentine Valerius Tuesday night at 1:00 Mr. Valentine Valerius, from St. Michael, Minnesota died in Minneapolis at the home of his daughter, Theresia. He attained the age of 73 years and departed well prepared through the reception of the sacrament of the Dying. The deceased was born in the year 1824 in Erdorf, governing district of Trier, Germany and came to America in 1857. His mortal remains will be brought to St. Michael, MN and will tomorrow, Thursday morning at 10:00 am, be carried to a final resting place from St. Michael's Church where he was a member of long-standing faithfulness to duty.
