Re: SYKES James; ENG; c. 1858 Hi Ron, Just some information told to me by a family member whose relative at age 10 was a working cabin boy on a sailing ship out of Bristol, England, about the 1890. The sailing ship transported prisoners to Botany Bay and the round trip took 7 months. Suggestion: maybe your relative was working on the ship and perhaps if you look for his family in 1857 in the Liverpool area you might find them. Good luck and hope some part of this is of help.
