MCKAY; DOW,NIR>AUS; 1860- Hello; Seeing if anyone has a connection to my MCKAY ancestors. My gg-grandmother was Anne HUGHES, of Co. Down, N. Ireland. Her mother was a MCKAY and according to family history, they owned a bakery and/or confectionery in Newry. There is no record of such a business in the 1884 Bassett's directory of Down. Apparently, they sold up and emigrated to Australia, settling in Melbourne, possibly. They had Anne HUGHES' sister, Bridget with them. According to family history, one of the women in the party gave birth on board the ship, and the baby was named Rose of the Sea !? Any one have anny connections to this group?
