    2. GETLER / GIETLER; DEU> BOH,AUT> POL; 1800- I am interested in anyone researching GETLER's from the town of Pabianice (near Lodz, Poland). I suspect Jozef Getler, his wife Magdalena and two children Jozef (b. ~1818/20) and Maryanna (b.~1823), migrated from Bohemia in the 1830's, to the Lodz industrial area, specifically Pabianice, as weavers. They were Roman Catholics, which fits in with coming from Bohemia as I understand a lot of German Catholics moved to Bohemia to escape religous intolerance back in Germany. A variation of the surname that I have encountered in my research is GIETLER. I am interested in finding out where in Bohemia they came from (and eventually where in Germany they originated from). A number of Getlers remain in the Lodz/Pabianice area, with a number relocating in 1946 to the German city of Dresden (some of the married names were Arldt, Erentraut, Klause). tomwodz@pcug.org.au
