DURKIN, Edward; IRL>USA; C. 1845 Seeking information on the DURKIN (DURKAN, DIRKIN, DURKEN, etc.) Family. My great grandfather Edward DURKIN was born about 1816 in either Mayo or Sligo to John and Sarah DURKIN. Edward married Mary MALEA (MALEY, MALIA, MALLEY, etc.) who was born about 1825 in either Mayo or Sligo. They were married on 15 Sept 1847 in Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA. Mary's parents were John and Bridget MALEA. Edward and Mary moved to Shamokin, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania in the early 1850's where my grandfather Martin DURKIN was born on 6 DEC 1853. He had at least one other sibbling - Sarah DURKIN KANE. My grandfather married Catherine DRUMHEISER in Shamokin on 23 June 1880. They had 12 children, all born in Shamokin. I'm trying to locate any information that might lead me to the town or parish in Ireland where my great grandparents came from. I've struck out in trying to find naturalization papers and passenger lists that could lead me to the right place. Any help would be most appreciated. THANK YOU in advance.
