MCCLELLAN; Cumb.,ENG; 1750- I'm researching McCLELLANs who settled in Whitehaven, Cumberland, ENG in about 1750. They are a very complicated line as they seemed to lack imagination in naming and almost all were called David, Thomas, William, Ann or Mary, until the late 19th century; and, many of them married Sarah's and Eliz's and Ann's. There seem to be 2 or 3 David's producing children about the same time. I've established a tentative framework. I'm missing a couple of births, those of my g-g grfather-Thomas and my grandfather (William) Creighton and his sister Catherine? in 1870-80. I think these last two may have been born in Ireland as their father was at Trinity College, Dublin. Any McCLELLANs (or anyone researching them) from this particular line please get in touch. I know that there are thousands of other McCLELLANs around, but I'm not going back to Kirkcudbright quite yet! Sally (McClellan) Wain, robin@wain51.freeserve.co.uk
