    3. PETER, E A; JPN; 1874 Buried "in the little cemetery apportioned to the foreign community" at some coastal/naval port in Japan is/was Edward Alexander Peter, died aged 28 on 25 Nov 1874 at Formosa. He was Chief Officer of the Japanese steamer, "Acantha". How can I trace where in Japan he was buried (we have a photo of the grave); find out whether the grave still exists; and discover more about the Japanese Navy and the steamer Acantha? There was a Mr INGLIS who was a "distant relative" at the burial ceremony (in which sailors of HM Gunboat Mosquito under Capt Young assisted. Revd H. Burnside officiated). Would greatly appreciate any suggestions. Sincerely David Morris Kimberley South Africa "D. Morris" <dmorris@kimberley.co.za>
