HANTKE / HANDTKE; PRU,DEU; 1850-1900 I am researching the surname HANTKE/HANDTKE. My great grandfather was Ferdinand HANTKE and came to the USA in 1859. He married Elizabeth SIMONS in 1860. Ferdinand was born in Prussia in 1833. After he came to the USA, he might have been a laborer prior to becoming a furrier.Places of residence were as follows: 82 Delancey Street- about 1859+ 199 S 2nd , Brooklyn- 1865 >1869 321 S 5th, Brooklyn- 1869 >1870's 147 Harrison Ave, Brooklyn- 1870's > 1880's 33 Cooper Street, Brooklyn 1899 31 Cooper Street, Brooklyn- 1900 on (family remained there for years- , Ida and husband, William HIRSCH, lived at 79 Cooper until 1939) Children of this marriage were Albert, Ida, Mary, Jennie, and George. The latter was my grandfather.
