    3. WELLS Vashti; MS,USA>LA,USA; 1833-1920 Looking for information on Vashti WELLS. She was said to have been born 3 December 1833 in Mississippi. She may have married her first husband, Joseph SMITH, there or in central Louisiana on 26 June 1857. She died in Lecompte, Rapides Parish, LA, on 11 March 1920. Although she gives her birthplace as Mississippi, the family story is that she may have been raised in the Glenmora, LA, area. I feel she may also tie into the area WELLS who married her husband's SMITH relations. She remarried to Anderson Lenard CHAFIN on 1 September 1864. Children with Joseph: Emma, Samanthy, Abe, Kenneth McKenzy, Joseph Richard Children with A.L.: Jessey, George, Cornelia Lovonia, Idonia, Sauphronia. (I think she got on a roll with the last three. ;) Thanks! Shari Shari <shari@viptx.net>

AR census (p356b) with three others named WHITE (sisters?): Nancy (b c1849), Elmyra (c1832 - Iowa? Louisiana?), and Isabel (c1828 - Iowa? Louisiana?). 3. STANLEY William / WILLIAMS Annie; MO,USA/IL,USA; c. 1872 I'm looking for any information on William (M.?) STANLEY who married Annie WILLIAMS sometime before 12 March 1872. In 1872 their first child, Charles Franklin, was born in either Missouri or Illinois. (probably Missouri). I only know of one other child, although there could have been any number. The other child was Birdsall C. ("B.C."). The story is that William was a traveling blacksmith, and that Annie may have been dead by the time they reached Oklahoma, which would have been by 1894. William and Annie's son Charles reported his parents as being from someplace different in each census. He put William down as being born in Missouri, Kentucky, and Indiana. He put Annie down as being born in Nebraska, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Charles moved to Texas (Angelina Co.) and his brother Birdsall moved to Colorado and Arkansas (White River area). I don't know what became of William and Annie. Thanks! Shari shari@viptx.net

Jane Moore McCray died 20 January 1874 in Lawrence County, Missouri. Enumerated near Jane and her husband in the 1850 Lawrence Co, MO, census was the family of John MOORE, born in Ireland, wife Catherine. It is often speculated that John was a brother to Jane. Jane and Thomas had children named: Elizabeth, Charles, Sarah, Mary Moore, Orra, Daniel, Lorina, Beersheba/Bathsheba, and Jane. My line is Mary. Simons in the Charles and Martha Simons of NC household in the 1850 Chickasaw Co., MS, census? There are stories that his family was wiped out by smallpox while living in the midwest. There is also a story that a near-ancestor of Charles was a male Irish BUCHANAN who married a female English SIMONDS and he took her name when emigrating. Children were named Mary Jane, Sarah Elizabeth, John Wesley, Henry Clay, William Earl, Jesse James, Myrtle, Lillie Maud, Willie (f.), George, and Frank Hicks. Henry Clay is my line.
