    3. KREEFT Christopher; ENG; c. 1820 Christopher KREEFT was the Consulate General for Mecklenburg Schwerin in London in the 1820's. Could anyone suggest where I might look for information about him? I wrote to the German Embassy in London last year, but have not had a reply from them. I have found a copy of an article by him about 'The First Russian Railroad'. It had been translated from German, and he said that he was an 'Agent for the Company' which was set up to build the railway from St. Petersburg to Zarscoe-Selo and Pawlowski. I feel that he must have been born somewhere in Germany, to be representing them in another country. Any ideas or thoughts? Wendy UK "Wendy" <wendy@grange1.freeserve.co.uk>

CANAVAN William Henry; Chicago, IL,USA; 1876- I'm looking for any info (especially a birth certificate) for William Henry Canavan, my great-grandfather. I have a birth date for him of 6/26/1876 in Chicago. William was orphaned as a toddler. William rarely mentioned his birth family once he was adopted out of the orphanage by a half sister when William was in seventh grade. This has made tracing his ancestors quite difficult for the past five years. Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you! 3. MCCLOUD Slathiel, Leota; IRL > Lohrville IA,USA; 1820-1920 &@#^%@#*!! Compuserve... This is the correct posting, and the correct subject name... I am searching for information on descendants and ancestors of Slathiel McCloud and Leota McCloud. I am a direct descendant through Slathiel's son Jesse McCloud son Joe McCloud. I am looking for information about other descendants of Slathiel, his siblings, and particularly any about his parents, whom our oral history says he was born in Ireland, and also says he migrated out of Ireland during the great potato famine. Oral history states he had 7 other siblings, most of which are unknown to me. I am looking for the birthdate of Slathiel, and any information about his wife Leota including birth, death dates and maiden name. Slathiel died in 1918 in Lohrville Iowa, where some of his descendants (my uncle Richard McCloud) still live to this day. Other oral history that I am trying to confirm about Slathiel is that he served in the US Civil War, was deeded 80 acres of land in Iowa as a direct result of his participation in that war, that he may have ridden in the pony express and that he wildcated for oil in Texas at one time. 3. Re: TAUBER; DEU>USA; 1600-1999 Hi, Lise. Ignore the offensive individual who posted his very un-helpful response. A helpful suggestion is that you could look at the Rootsweb Surname Lists, which can be found at: http://rsl.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/rslsql.cgi Here, you can see information on the 10 people who are researching the Tauber surname, can look to see what other surnames they have listed that they are looking for, and can email them. You can, of course, also post your email address as a researcher in this surname, and list any date or geographical limitations on the scope of your search. I have links to this and some other sites you may find helpful on my genealogy page - feel free to have a look, and of course I am open to suggestions. http://www.execpc.com/~dhinz/genealogy.html Best regards, and good luck!
