    3. Re: SCHNIEDERS, Anton; DEU>OH,USA; 1859 I am searching for my g-grandfather, Anton Schnieders, who was born in the Kingdom of Hannover, possibly on 1 October 1837. His parents were Jacob & Thecla Schnieders. The family was Catholic. Anton was a tailor and is listed as such on the shipslist. Anton Schnieders emigrated to the US in May, 1859. That is when his ship, the J Ahlers, arrived in NY. On the shipslist, he is "sandwiched in" between three Hermsen boys. The shipslist reads: Hermsen, Bernhard; Hermsen, Gerhard; Schnieders, Anton; Hermsen Gerhard-Herman. Three of these Hermsens also settled in Cincinnati, but maybe this is just a coincidence. One Hermsen was given an obit in the old German newspaper in Cinti. Mr. Hermsen was from Lohne bei Lingen. But so far--no Anton! The children of Anton Schnieders and his American born wife (whom he married in the US) are (in this order--given for the purposes of German naming patterns: Anna, Helena, Mary, John, Frank Victor, Clarence Anthony. Anton Schnieders has not been found on the Tenfelde List of emigrants; The Staatsarchiv in Osnabruck say he is not listed there as a "legal immigrant." The Catholic Church archive in Osnabruck says he is not listed there, either. Thank you, Buffy from Cincinnati buffys97 <buffys97@one.net>

    3. MINIFIE Herbert / RAWLINS Florence; STS,ENG > CAN; c. 1920 Dear Listers: This is my first time on the list and I am rather hoping someone can help me trace ancestors who immigrated to Canada. My great aunt, Florence RAWLINS married Herbert H. MINIFIE in 1911 in Stoke-upon-Trent, Staffordshire, England and later immigrated to Canada, c.1920s. Family tradition has it that they had eight children; six boys and two girls. While I am aware that this is little to go on I really would appreciate any help/information on how I can go about tracing their descendants. 3. BOYLE Patrick; NB,CAN; b.1863 Looking for confirmation on the parents of Patrick Boyle - and to trade information with any of his other relatives. He was born on St. Patrick's Day, 1863 in Bloomfield, Kings County, New Brunswick. He married Annie Teresa Stack in 1893 who died during childbirth. He later married Margaret Jane MacDougall in 1897. I have some evidence that the parents of Patrick Boyle are Francis Boyle and Margaret Cushion, but have no further information on them. The children of Patrick and Margaret Boyle are Martin Henry Boyle ( my maternal grandfather ), born in 1904, and Mary Rosella Boyle, born in 1900. I have information on other Kings County, New Brunswick families as well in anyone has interest in families there. Adrian in Kanata, Ontario. "Adrian Brown" <adrian@nortelnetworks.com>

    3. HAYWOOD John; DEV,ENG; 1816- Hello listers I have traced the HAYWOOD family as far back as John HAYWOOD (as in the subject line) who was born in abt 1816 in Withycombe, Devon, England. He married Eliza, who was born in about 1819 in Ottery St Mary, Devon. Together the couple had (at least) John 1845, Emely 1847, Anna Maria 1849, Albin 1856, Ebenezer 1858, and Harry 1863. I am looking for the maiden name of Eliza the mother, any children not mentioned above (and there are some gaps that surely are not childless!) and any more information about the family. Can anybody help, please? 1. SMILEY, Robert William; Londonderry,IRL>Philadelphia, PA,USA; 1869
    2. SMILEY, Robert William; Londonderry,IRL>Philadelphia, PA,USA; 1869 Trying to find out what County in Ireland my Smiley family came from -- family legend is County Tyrone. Posted this to the list in Dec. 1999 but, received no answer. Perhaps there is a person out there now who might have a source I can contact. SMILEY, Robert William (my ggrandfather) according to National Archives Ship Passenger Arrival Records, left Londonderry, IRL on the bark VILLAGE BELLE and arrived in the Port of Philadelphia, PA, USA on Sept. 16, 1869. His age is listed as 18 making his birth date 16 Jan 1851. His certificate of death lists it as 16 Jan 1847. McKEOWN, Margaret wife of SMILEY, Robert William (date and place of marriage not known) was born in Ireland 4 Jan 1851. SMILEY, William (father of SMILEY, Robert William) no date of birth or death is known. Place of death is believed to be in Ireland. SMILEY, Martha (mother of SMILEY, Robert William) according to National Archives Ships Passenger Arrival Records arrived in the Port of Philadelphia, PA, USA on the steamship HIBERNIAN on Dec. 4, 1887 along with another of her sons, SMILEY, Alexander. In records for Philadelphia, PA, Martha is listed as widow of William. According to the certificate of death for SMILEY, Martha her year or birth was 1817 (or perhaps 1820). Parents of SMILEY, Robert William - no marriage date or place for SMILEY, William and Martha (maiden name could be ALEXANDER, Matilda). I've been told the name Martha for Matilda was, sometimes, used interchangeably in Ireland. The naturalization papers for SMILEY, Robert William state origin of birth listed only as Ireland. Copies of the certificates of death for these family members (except for SMILEY, William believed to have died in Ireland before his widow came to the USA). The origin of birth on the certificates of death state Ireland, nothing else. I am not aware of any other records of family members that are available in the USA. Does anyone know of any? With this amount of information, how can I find the county of origin of the SMILEY family in Ireland? Any advice is needed and greatly welcomed. Thanking you in advance for your help! 1. SCOTT; Donegal IRL; 1735-1831
    2. SCOTT; Donegal IRL; 1735-1831 Hi, I'm trying to find a connection to my SCOTT line.......My ancestor's name was John SCOTT...b. 1790 Ireland......I believe that he was born to Francis SCOTT b. ca1770's.....I don't have a wife's name, but I do believe that this Francis SCOTT lived in Naran, Iniskell, Co. Donegal. He was the son of CrawfordSCOTT b. ca1735. Someone sent me the information that a Francis SCOTT was recorded as died in 1831 in Iniskeel......I would like to find out more information about this if possible, as this could be the one I'm looking for.... It is said that Francis SCOTT had 3 children......John, Thomas & Anna....I have information about Anna, that she married Hugh BRANDON in Co.Donegal and they had a son there in 1820 , Alexander BRANDON who married Mary TENNIS (sp).....I would really like to find out if the births of John,Thomas & Anna are recorded somewhere.....Not sure about church affiliation, but possibly Presbyterian?? That is only a guess. If anyone is connected to this line or might be able to lookup something there for me I would be really greatful to you for your help. Thanks so much, N.J.Skinner White in Michigan...USA VWhite0901@aol.com
