SLEPICKA / HRUSKA; BOH,AUT>Chi, IL,USA; 1855- SLEPICKA / HRUSKA / CECH / SACK, Bohemian immigrants, born near Prague, 1850's, migrated abt. 1868. Anna Hruska Slepicka's parents were Martin and Mary Hruska, the parents lived with their daughter and son-in-law Mary and Joseph Sack at 2713 Portland Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, in 1880. Sack may be an Americanization of the name Cech. We know that Michael (probably Matej) and Anna (Hruska) Slepicka lived next door at 2715 Portland Avenue. By 1877, Michael (Matej) Slepicka was also using the name Mike Chicken (Chicago City Directory), a loose American translation of Slepicka (hen). He was working as a machinist and living at 283 W. 20th, Chicago, Illinois. Searching for any information concerning the HRUSKA, SACK, CECH and SLEPICKA families, Bohemian immigrants. First known US address Chicago, Illinois. "ETM" <elainetm@worldnet.att.net>

Re: ROLFE / ROLF; ENG>AUS; 1850- The message <7f5t0j$f1p$1@bl-1.rootsweb.com> from knoxdeb@aol.com (Knoxdeb) contains these words: > I am a descendant of John Rolfe & Pocahontas. Trying to find any information > on John Rolfe & his family in England or elsewhere?. Especially looking for > info on his first wife's family. She apparently died after surviving the > shipwreck in Bermuda and en route to VA? True and so did her child, so there is no family. However though John and Pocahontas had only one child Thomas before she died in Greenwich near London just as she was returning to America, Thomas married twice. Once in England and once in America. There are many descendants from both wives. I descend from the English family via the Elwins an old Norfolk family not far from the Rolfe's home. He also had 3 brothers, Heinrich, August, and Johann, and one sister Lina. Heinrich was killed in April 1915 in World War One. BRUNO / CARRA; ITA>USA; 1880-1885 My great-grandparents (Bruno) married in Italy and emigrated to the USA c.1880-1885, and settled first in Elmira, NY, then in Knoxville, PA (Tioga County). I am not sure of their birth names, but my grandfather was called Charles Bruno, and grandmother is listed in a Knoxville census as Rosenia Bruno.Family oral tradition tells me her maiden name was Carra, but it has been suggested that it may be Cerra, a family known to come from Calabria. They had five children--Joseph, Paul, Biagio (later William), Amelia, and Josephine (later married into the Cercone family). Some of these children were born in Italy; William was born in the USA c. 1886-87. William lived in Lockport, NY, and Buffalo, NY in later years. He married Mary Ellen Rox, and had 9 children who survived to adulthood, all born from 1910 to 1928. Their names were: Edith, Charles, William, Loretta, John, Edward, Mary, Catherine, and Norma. If you have any information that matches any of this, please contact me, and thank you in advance. . "Mohr" <maglmdoc@ptd.net>
