Re: VARCOE Vera; UK; 1920- Good Morning Fiona, My name is Stella. Just a thought: Perhaps you should post this query to a site called TreeTops: They post your quest on T.V. for a week (no fee) as well as post in a Journal for the Month. This is apparently seen throughout the U.K. and Ireland as well as Europe. This page has had a few problems over the past few days - keep trying. http://freespace.virgin.net/tree.tops/index.htm Also perhaps posting to a Bristol/Sommerset site as well as the Wessex site. may be of value - these are location specific sites - rather than the All Britain - so you may find persons researching the same families - or be more willing to help in your quest. http://members.aol.com/gfsjohnf/gen_mail_country-unk.html http://www.rootsweb.com/~maillist/europe/index.html#england Here in Canada we have a publication at one time called the Henderson Directories (City Directory)this is a reverse directory - that gives ref to addresses and the persons/businesses located there - as well it gives names of persons - and their addresses - includes their occupations as well. Perhaps there is something similar in the U.K. These directories can be usually found in Public Libraries in the location of interest. I have been able to find family going back from 1996 (year of death) to year of arrival in Canada in 1912 - I have all addresses of the original family - and children - including occupations of all for every year. I don't know whether the Latter Day Saints would be of help. If this is a living person that you are attempting to find - perhaps the Red Cross or Salvation Army could be of help . I know that they do this in other parts of the world. When I was researching our surname interests I searched the people find white pages directories including Infospace:and found family and connections by contacting the persons by mail or e mail. There are 92 Varcoe in the U.K. listed with Infospace. Including an Anthony Varcoe in Bristol. http://www.infospace.com Infospace E. Mail Directory : found 2 Varcoe in the U.K. http://in-137.infospace.com/info/email1.htm There are also 149 Varcoe listing in the U.S.A. and 148 listed in Canada. Hope the above will be of some help.
