TEASDALE / TEESDALE; ENG/ USA/ CAN/ AUS; 1500- TEASDALE/TEESDALE; ENG/ USA/ CAN/ AUS; 1500- I have published a Teasdale Newsletter on a website that includes articles on the origin of the name and listing all the variants. There are interesting stories about the early names in Northumberland, Durham, Cumberland and Westmoreland, together with a query page for correspondents. I have an IGI database with almost 12,000 names and my own database with about 3,500 names taken from parish records, census returns, probate records and the GRO. I have many family trees that have been submitted by Teasdales. I am a member of the Guild of One-Name Studies (GOONS) and am recording all the Teasdales and variants in the world. I welcome any information on my surname from any country. Ronald H Teasdale ronnie@teasdale47.freeserve.co.uk 66 Broadway, Tynemouth, Tyne & Wear, NE30 2LH, England. www.teasdale47.freeserve.co.uk
MCSALLY, Edward; Stirling, SCT; 1830-1886 Edward McSALLY m. Eliz. McQUEEN - 1870 They had 5 daughters: Christina Eliz., Ann Patricia, Helen, Catherine & Eliza between 1878 and 1883, in Stirling. Ed. and Eliz. died in 1886. By 1891 census the oldest 4 were living in Newington, EDIN. and Eliza in Stirling. Who were they living with? Did Eliz. McQUEEN have any living relatives then? Her father appears to have been Alexander McQUEEN. Ann Patricia (also known as Annie McSALA) married Creighton McCLELLAN in EDIN. in 1903 and died in 1908. She was my grandmother. Is anyone descended from one of the sisters? Has anyone come across the name McSALLY? Any help would be much appreciated. Sally Wain robin@wain51.freeserve.co.uk

ACOURT; Dorset, UK; 1500-1800 I have what appears to be several a'Court families in the early 1800's, presumably this was one family a few generations before. They all are living in close proximity to Fifehead Magdalen, Dorset, England. I have traced my surname to one of these, but have little information as yet before 1800. I also have information on marriages in Yeovil, Somerset (not that far away) in the late 1500's, I am sure there is a link but cannot fill the gap. Has anyone any hints where I can look? I have searched online but to no avail. Regards Roy a'Court "In2Home User" <Roy.aCourt@rada.in2home.co.uk>

HOLMES,William Charles; Gainsborough,LIN,ENG; 1852 According to the 1881 census and St Cath's Index William Holmes was born in Gainsborough. He was married there in 1870 to Fanny Clarke who was born in Whittington near Chesterfield in DBY. His first 2 children, Annie and William were also born in Gainsborough in 1872 and 1874 but the next three were born in Whittington, Lydia in 1876, Ada in 1879 and George my grandfather1882. PETER, Edward Alexander; TWN; 1874 Greetings! I recently found evidence that one Edward Alexander Peter, b 1846, possibly born in Australia, family based in Fife, Scotland, was a sailor, died in 1874, in FORMOSA. Now there is a Formosa in Argentina, and another family member is known to have gone to Argentina as a sheep farmer. But I take Formosa in this instance to be TAIWAN. I have a faded photo of his fairly substantial grave, which presumably is in "FORMOSA" Any suggestions as to how to confirm this? Best wishes David Morris Kimberley South Africa "D.
