    3. HABICHT; Wettges, DEU; 1849-1884 Hi, list! I've tried this before but it's been a while. If someone who is multilingual would like to interpret, go ahead, I only speak English, regrettably. I'll readily accept answers in German. I am searching for information on my g-grandfather. _____ Henry (Heinrich) Habicht was born about 1849. He was living with his aunt in Wettges, Germany in 1873 when he married Elizabeth Höll. They had 4 children Margaret (died 3 days old), Matthew (died 4 yo), Anna and Elizabeth. Elizabeth and Henry planned on coming to America in June 1884. Henry decided to work for extra funds in the Black Forrest cutting timber. While there he contracted pneumonia and died after returning to Wettges in early March 1884. Elizabeth decided to come to America anyway, as that was the plan. Leaving the graves of two children and her husband she emigrated to a country, where she didn't speak the language, with a 3 yo and a 1 yo. Until the day of her death her husband's picture sat on her bedstead. She communicated with his family through two World Wars. I remember her well even though she died in 1954. I can smell her fresh scentwhen I close my eyes. Why can't I find his family??? Well, I'm sure there is no one else interested in Henry. It would just be by chance that someone building a one name database would catch him. There are seven known living decendants. The other six are hoping I can find something. Any information about Henry or his possible aunt would be enthusiastically accepted. -- Norman Stephan ~ Normal <nstephan@earthlink.net>

    3. GEIST Christine; Stuttgart, WUE,DEU; 1880-1920 Hello to all, Could anyone give me an idea of where to begin looking for these folks who were living in Stuttgart in the summer of 1914. Christine GEIST married on November 30, 1907 a man whose first name was Otto, but I do not know his last name. However, they lived at 75 Bismarck Street in Stuttgart in 1914. They had a daughter named Alice who was born in 1910. Otto was in the wool business, working for Herr FRY and Herr REISS. Christine was born May 7, 18?? and Otto was born Feb. 19, 18??. Otto was called to serve in the Army and he was in the Regiment of Queen Olga, 13th Corps, 51st Brigade, Company 2, but was changed to Company 5. He reported for duty in Stuttgart on Saturday August 8, 1914. Because their was a shortage of uniforms, he trained in Stuttgart during the day and was home at night, except when he was on guard duty. Otto's parents were living in Frankfort in 1914. Some other relatives of Christine's were: REIBER, Gustov and Elisa, married June 8, 1904, living in Pforzheim in 1914. Children were Anna, Ella, Hans, Gretel. KRAUTH, Wilhelm and Maria GEIST, married March 1910, daughter Clara. GEIST, Wilhelm and Louisa, lived in Dillstein in 1914, son Wilhelm. HINKEL, Franz and Caroline GEIST, children were Eugun, Rudolph, Lena. Thank you for any help you can give me to begin finding more information about these folks. Donna jensmom@swbell.net

    2. David Koscielniak
    3. KOSCIELNIAK; WV,USA / NJ,USA; 1910 I need some IDEAs on where to search. Here is my situation. My grandfather Michal came from Poland/Austria and arrived at New York in 1910, two weeks before the 1910 CENSUS. According to the passenger list he was planning on traveling to Detroit and work with his brother in the factories. I looked up the address in the 1910 CENSUS for Michigan and they are not listed. They do not appear as boarders at any house on that street. Grandpa did tell us that he and his brother (or brothers) worked at the coal mines in West Virginia and New Jersey. I never thought New Jersey had coal mines but if there was any, what counties would they be in. For the 1910 CENSUS, West Virginia is index but New Jersey is not. I searched through the 1910 CENSUS for West Virginia with no success. The next step would be to search, line by line, the CENSUS for New Jersey. I just want to narrow it down to the New Jersey counties which had coal mines. I am NOT ruling out West Virginia. Would the WV miners be 'indexed' in the 1910 CENSUS if they lived at the coal mine? If they were not indexed living at the coal mines, what counties had coal mines? Is there somewhere to write for information about employment at coal mines? Eventually my Grandpa and his brother (or brothers) went back to the factories in Detroit some time around 1912. Is there a better way to approach this research? I would apprecriate some suggestions. 1. MORRISON Charles; Walmer, KEN,ENG; 1819
    2. John Carey
    3. MORRISON Charles; Walmer, KEN,ENG; 1819 Researching back from Charles MORRISON, born at Walmer Kent 1819, I appear to have come up against a break. I have the certificate for his marriage to Amelia Aldham (father George Aldham, farmer) on 7 July 1843 at St Mary's Church, Walmer, Kent. This certificate describes him as <Boatman> and his father, Douglas MORRISON as <Quartermaster>. Amelia was shown in the 1861 census as living at Back Way of Strand, Walmer, aged 39 and born at Thorington Sfk, East of Southwold and some four miles from the coast. I have not, so far, been able to locate Douglas Morrison, who is held in family lore as having been born in Aberdeen and worked on ships (presumably on coastwise shipping). Would the description Quartermaster relate to such work and could anyone suggest how I could trace the ship/s concerned. The choice of Charles' bride and the eventual move to Walmer would suggest a vessel trading along the East coast to Deal/Walmer. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks. -- John Carey researching Goman & Lewis in Bristol 1800, Beckford in Cookham area, 1800 and Major & Stone in Bridport, 1800.
