    3. BURNETT, Alexander & Margaret; IRL>NB,CAN; 1791 Looking for information on my gggg gf Alexander Burnett who emigrated to Canada in 1816 with his wife Margaret. He may have been a veteran of the Battle of Waterloo since he was granted land in an area reserved for veterans. The area was first called Waterloo but the name was changed to Irish Settlement and Joliff Brook. He is listed as a British citizen and was Presbyterian. He was also an educated man. He was a wheelmaster at first and then became a Deputy-Surveyor. He arrived in Canada with only his wife Margaret-all children were apparently born here. Both he and Margaret were born in 1790 or 1791, county unknown. The information I have on his descendants can be found at http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Atrium/9141/index.html. I accidentally overwrote my original homepage yesterday, so this version is very crude-it does however contain all the information. I am seeking information on possible siblings of his-there may have been a James Burnett who went to the USA. Also his parents, grandparents etc. Edith Tippett [email protected] ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

Dort ist meistens auch der Geburtsort und das genaue Geburtsdatum festgehalten. Dann an das Standesamt des Geburtsorts schreiben, um mehr Infos zu bekommen. 3. Re: STARK; Bodoney Upper, TYR,NIR; -1861 Surely you mean the townland of Broughderg (Bruach Dearg)? I'e never come across a Dergborough in the Omagh area. In any case, the name would not make sense - the word "borough" is Anglo-Saxon, and therefore extremely unlikely to occur in an Irish townland name. A lot of our townland names in Ireland date from a period centuries before the Angles and Saxons ever came to Britain - never mind to Ireland! 3. ISLEY; ENG>NJ,USA; 1820-1840 This is my first posting to this list, so please be gentle with me! Seeking information regarding gg-grandparents, James and Elizabeth ISLEY. They were born in England and settled in Jersey City, NJ, where they both died in 1881-1882. They had at least two children, James, Jr and William H. (my g-grandfather) I'm sure that there were other children, I just haven't found them yet. I know absolutely nothing about Elizabeth. Family lore has it that there were seven brothers who came to this country and they all headed out in different directions. My g-grandfather William H. married Rose FAUTH and had one child that I know of, William John ISLEY. William John first married Mary Frances QUINN and produced Mabel ISLEY, William J. ISLEY, Jr. and Borden ISLEY. None of these children produced children of their own. William John then married Dorothea Anna HUSTEDT MEYER and had Harold William ISLEY in 1917. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Regards, Karen ISLEY SEIFERTH Florida <[email protected]>

    3. BURROUGHS; CAN; 1900- BURROUGHS; CANADA; 1900- My Gt-Grandfather Samuel Burroughs died in Atlantic City NJ in 1919. Prior to that he was a police inspector in Manchester, retiring in 1895. He had two wives, his second named Annie Jane and two sons John Charles and Louis George, plus a half-brother Frederick and a daughter Margaret. However, family legend has it that the family actually went to Canada and one of them worked for GM. Certainly a Burroughs came over to the UK as part of the Canadian Amry during the war and visited my Grandmother Frances Alice Burroughs in Manchester. Are there any Burroughs in Canada who can throw some light on this please? Many thanks derek derek wilcox <[email protected]>
