    1. RIGLER / REGLAR / REGULAR / REGGLER; NF,CAN; 1700-
    2. Jonathan Reggler
    3. RIGLER / REGLAR / REGULAR / REGGLER; NF,CAN; 1700- I would be grateful for any help. I am researching these names which appear to be closely related. The RIGLERS originally come from Powerstock in Dorset, UK, where the various name variants co-existed in the nineteenth century. There are no RIGLERS in Canada now, only REGULARS and REGGLERS, predominantly in NF. There were REGLARS in NF in the 19th century. (There are REGLARS in NS but they arrived in the 1960s) A post on NFLD-ROOTS on 24 Jan 2000 stated that Seary suggests that REGULAR is a variant of the England surname REGLAR, said to denote a member of a religious or monastic order. I believe this is unlikely as work by Martin REGLAR in the UK has shown that REGLAR is a late variant of the name RIGLER. This fits much more closely with the known Dorset/NF connection. There are records of two Riglers in NF in the mid 19th century: 5 Oct 1853 William Rigler aged 16 was buried at Harbour Grace, NF 26 July 1882 James Rigler married Melina Jane Cooper in White Bay Church, NF Finally, a Mary Rigler "a Native of Newfoundland" was buried in Powerstock, Dorset, UK in 1816. Does anyone have more information please on these names in Newfoundland or elsewhere? I would also like to hear from anyone else researching the Powerstock/NF connection (or the wider Dorset/NF connection) Jonathan Reggler via this Newsgroup or Jonathan.Reggler@ukgateway.net

    3. HALL; ENG; 1800-1930 I am researching all the names in the list below. Believe it or not, they are all linked by family documents I have in my own possession dating back to about the 1870s. But it is not always clear what some of the relationships are. Clearly, some of the names are very common in their own countries, so what I am looking for are some positive means of identifying the links between them. 3. HOLMAN / ROBINSON / WALKER; CO,USA; 1900-1999 Subject: ROBINSON/HOLMAN/WALKER; CO,USA; 1900-1999 I would like to contact the descendants of WILLIAM and BESSIE HOLMAN who emigrated to Salida and Chaffee County area of Colorado in 1885. Having initially arrived in California. WILLIAM was a boilermaker who worked in Denver, Durango and Salida. William (died 1911) and Bessie (died 1923), were both buried in Fairview Cemetery, Salida. Their children were FRANK, WILLIAM HENRY(HARRY) and AMY. FRANK had a son called FRANK and other children. We believe AMY married a GEORGE ROBINSON ; they had 5 children; HOLMAN, FRANK, ROGER, HENRY & ELSIE. HOLMAN ROBINSON , who married Lola Smith, died in 1963, their children were HOLLY, BRADLEY and GEORGE - all born in Colorado,Utah and Montana respectively. I think that Lola was born in Indian and had a sister Leonora who married NOEL WALKER, they had two children, according to 1920 census, ROBERT and RICHARD. HARRY was , in 1911, Manager of the Pioneer Boiler Works in Grand Junction. We think he married Hattie and possibly had a child Fanny Further information suggests that they lived at 209 dodge Street, Salida for 16 years. They may have had another son ?Lurton? Holman who was a game warden for many years in the area - I increasingly think that this link is unlikely. I would dearly like to get in touch with any descendants. Cheers, Peter Byford, please respond to pgb@bcs.org.uk Peter Byford <pgb@cuapb.demon.co.uk>
