Thanks for your reply, just wondered if anyone out there is working on some of same surnames..... These lines mentioned all went to AZ 1914 and homesteaded in the Phoenix area (Litchfield Park, as it was back then)- and they were about the first farmers to grow potatoes, as well as hay back then. They had lived and farmed in Shasta Co CA, but Frank RAYNER SR decided he could get a lot of land and homestead and farm after AZ became a state, then a some of the other families went also. They had quite a lot of land and farmed it well. Family says when they went to AZ, combined they had 4 traincar loads of belongings, farm equipment, and animals. My husband was born in Phoenix. His parents and grandparents had moved back to Shasta Co., however ca. 1953-1955. Some of the other RAYNER descendants and possibly SYKES still are in the Phoenix area. I am going to need to check homesteader records, census and death records.
