My second great grandfather is John MARKWITH, born 1838 in Essex Co., NJ. He was married to Elenora Wilber and they had around 11 children. John's father was also a John Markwith married to Margaretta Hall. John Sr.'s father was Richard Markwith, but no one seems to know who the parents were. Some think that Richard and his brothers, Daniel and John, were adopted because the parents were killed by Indians. Others think that the father was avoiding the war and in hiding.
