Seeking any information: Henry Houston Mays: b. June 17-1872 Place of birth unknown, Could be Texas, Ark, or Illinois. Parents name unknown. Mother's maiden name possibly COWAN. Henry married Lilly McDougald in Ms. Henry was 1/4 to 1/2 Native American, probably Cherokee. This is all the information that we have on Henry: He and his parents moved to a ranch in the Fort Worth of Texas when he was small. Henry was left an orphan at age 14. He was forced to leave the property by other ranchers. It is thought his parents owned the land. Henry made his was thru Ark. to Memphis where he thought he had a grandfather. It is unknow if his name was May(s) or Cowan. He could not locate him and worked on a boat for a while. He worked up to Illinois and came back to Ark. and went to work for Daniel McDougald who owned land in Ark. When Daniel returned to Ms. where he also owned land, he brought Henry with him. Henry married McDougald's daughter, Lilly. They had four children, Taylor, Daisy, Charlie and Sterling. The name Sterling is thought to have been a family name. Henry's son Sterling was an avid Harley rider as are most of his descendants. Anyone, who has any information that could lead to the identification of Henry or his parents, I would be forever thankful. Anyone willing to check records, census or land grants in the Fort Worth area for a May(s) moving there around 1880 would be appreciated. Thank you Suzanne
