Joseph Lawrence FOSTER was born in 1825 in Rensselaer Co., NY. It is believed that he married Mary Agnes KIRK 3 Nov 1846 in Troy, Rensselaer, NY. They were the parents of three children: Mary, Frederick S., and Carrie. All three children and the mother died in Wayne Co., NY. Frederick died in a boating accident and the mother and at least Carrie died in a typhoid epidemic. Joseph was a shoemaker on the 1850 through 1870 censuses. He removed to Geauga Co., OH, after the death of his first family. He married Marcia Ann DARLING 1 May 1870 in Chardon, Geauga, OH. He died in the same place 8 Dec 1894.
