Seeking information on James S. Herndon. He was born December 14, 1861/1862 in Columbus, Missouri. Parents could be William Herndon and Fanny (Cheatim?). Fanny was born about 1830 in Springfield, Illinois. William is thought to be the nephew of William Herndon, Lincoln's law partner in Springfield. Conflicting information suggests his parents could be William G Herndon (born about 1821 in Kentucky) and Amanda V ________ (born about 1827 in Kentucky). Any information would be appreciated.
