    3. These were some wonderful ideas. I have spent the summer meeting family I never knew and "scraping their brains". I would like to add a couple more ideas, as these are some I have found helpful, through working with my grandma (who has Alzheimers' (sp?) disease) and others who don't. These tidbits of info can also be helpful if found out: Who owned the land they lived on? What years or timeperiods did they move in ? (Get a time-line built) What schools did they attend? Did they go to school with any cousins? What churches they attend, or what denomination were they? Did they have any special skills - such as making quilts, wagonwheels, etc? Were they often quarrelsome? (This helps in finding out if there might be lawsuits from or against them). You could also ask if they knew of any lawsuits concerning the persons you are discussing. If someone doesn't remember when someone was born, and won't even attempt a guess, try asking what they remember of their lives at the time the other was born. Try to help them help you. After you get some ideas, ask them how old they were when that happened, so you will have an idea what date/time frame to look at. Old newspapers can also hold a lot more info than many legal documents (they can bring a person to life for you), so finding a timeline and adding as many things to look for can be extremely helpful. Just some things to think on................
