This is not entirely correct. The IGI is the International Genealogical Index, but the records do not come from family files. That is the Ancestral File data base. Both are LDS FHC (Morman Family History Center) programs. The IGI is records that have been extracted from original documents ie. church records, vital records, city history records, books in print, etc. etc. etc. These records are copied exactly as they are written and can easily be verified. You may order any microfilm available for the fee of $3.50 for 30 days, renew for an additional $3.50. Microfische are .15 cents and they stay at the center where you ordered them. The Ancestral File data base are the records that have been submitted by family members, they DO need to be verified. I hope this helps clear up the FHC and not cause more confusion. W.
