Looking for information on William P (Uncle Billy ) Hampton , born Aug 8 1789 in North Carolina or a part of eastern Tennessee that used to part of North Carolina. Married a woman named Malinda born in Virginia maiden name unknown. I know that William was in Tennessee between the years 1818 and 1827, bought land in McLean County Illinois in 1828, and was one of the first settlers in what is now Dade County Missouri by about 1833 or 1834. William and Malinda had seven children, John and James that went to Missouri with them, Lemira who married Joseph Karr Noble in McLean Co. IL. and four other children who I can find no trace of ; William Irwin, Mary Adeline, Elizabeth, and Matilda. Does anyone know where in Tennessee William was from, what Malinda's maiden name was and what happened to his other four children ? Any information would be a great help.
