Does anyone have info on Hitemans, Heitmans? John Hiteman came to New York State from Sand, Germany, in 1868. He was the son of Conrad and Katherine Hiteman, who did not emigrate. John's brother, Henry, also emigrated to the U.S. John and Henry were in the leather business (owned a tannery) in West Winfield, NY, for many years. My atlas does not show a place called Sand in Germany. Maybe someone could explain why. Jayne [email protected]
