Hello... I am looking for information for my 2nd great grandfather. He was Henry Clay Powell, born 1829 in Mass; he receives a general land warrant from Cpl Lane of Mason co., Illinois for land in Dakota co., Nebraska. In 1856-7, Henry Clay Powell and Virgil Powell are in Dakota co., Nebraska. One is a trapper and the other a farmer. By 1860, Virgil is gone and Henry is the farmer. I can trace Henry from this 1856-7 date until is death in 1911. Mason Co., Illinois is the only link I have from the land warrant; and Mass is his birth state on the Census.
