    3. I am looking for information on the BARNHART families of the Mohawk Valley region of New York State -- also and including Dutchess, Montgomery, and Otsego Counties. Per the 1810-1830 federal census there were several BARNHART families in Eastern New York State. I found reference in 1830 to Joseph BARNHART of Cannajoharie in Montgomery Co, and in 1820 to Joseph BARNHART in Renseleer Co. In 1820 there were two Jacob BARNHARTs in Otsego Co. (Westford). In 1810 there were Jacob, Frederick and Francis in Montgomery Co. NY. I would appreciate any help with these families. Most specifically I am looking for Joseph BARNHART who had a daughter Deborah who married possibly first a Westlake and later Almond STOTENBUR, likely in the latter 1850s, perhaps in McKean Co., PA. However, I believe they came from the Dutchess-Otsego Co. area of NYS. Any information on any of the previously mentioned Barnharts might help me rule the families in or out as possibilities to explore. Thank you for any help. The surname can be spelled Barnhardt as well as Barnhart. Some indexes include Bernhart, Bernhard and Bernard with the BARNHARTs. Margaret Scheffler figaro@dreamscape.com
