    1. SULLIVAN;IRL>WLS;1810-1861
    2. I thought I had found my Patrick SULLIVAN my great great grandfather and his family but unfortunately it looks like I missed the boat. I had reported that some very helpful researchers in South Wales had identified a SULLIVAN family in the 1861 Census for Monmouthshire in the parish of Bedwelty and the hamlet of Manmoel . which consisted of Patrick SULLIVAN 51, (thought this was my great great grandfather) Head of household, married, Occupation Coker, Place of birth Ireland and his wife Catherine, 50; children Jeremia 18, Patrick 17, (I thought this was my great grandfather) John 14 and Mary Ann 10. The address given on the census returns as number 4, Row 48, Manmoel, Sirhwoy, Bedwelty, Monmouthshire. Manmoel is less than 10 miles from Rhymney at the address 13 Furnace Row Rhymney on the 1861 census is the Cummins family. John and Ellen Cummin(g)s born in Ireland and their Children Michael, Richard, Andrew and Ellen being born in the parish of Bedwelty. Unfortunately it looks like this is not my SULLIVAN family. I have received a Marriage certificate which indicates my Patrick Sullivan was 21; a bachelor; a fireman in the iron works married Ellen Cummins; 19; a spinster. They were living in Rhymney. Patrick's father was John Sullivan (deceased); a general laborer. Ellen Cummins was living in Rhymney; her father was John Cummins; a general laborer. They were married 25 July 1863. Marriage was solemnized at the Register Office Bedwelty, Monmouth Wales. Witness was David Evans and Mary By***. Neither Patrick or Ellen were able to write their name and they both signed their X mark. My Patrick immigrated 7 September 1865 and settled in PA in the Old Forge, Minooka, Taylor and Scranton area. So very close but it does not look like a have a solid connection. I hope the information provided herein helps some other researcher with their search. Back to the drawing board I go now to find out what I can about John SULLIVAN, deceased, my great great grandfather and his family.
