Charles Rutter posted a query on 6 Feb 1999. Sorry for the delay responding. The paper trail from 1816 is relative good to the present. However, I do not know for sure where he came from. The 1860 census shows he gave his birth place as Maryland. Chuck- You might try Cecil County, Maryland. I have a JOHN LORTH RUTTER (1844-1870) m. ca. 1869 ELLA CECILIA LARZELERE (1849-after 1932). John was the son of JOHN RUTTER and SARAH B. LORTH. The LARZELERE family in Maryland was related to the LARZELERE family in Muskingum County, Ohio. In fact, during the Civil War many members of the Maryland branch moved to Muskingum County until the war was over. I know it is a long shot, but I hope it helps. Good luck.
