Hi! Clfmu@aol.com wrote: > > Dear ron, before I mess up. Being new to the net and Lists Please tell me > about "Turning off the signature file" Sorry i don't understand!! Don't apologize! Asking is how one learns, and I'm going to bet that you aren't the only one that isn't sure about this issue! The "signature file" is basically nothing more than an ascii text file that your browser will automatically attach to the end of an email message. I use one browser, and one only, so my experience as to how to work the other browsers is very limited... (sheepish grin).... I do not know the AOL software, never mind the MAC version! Maybe someone else out there can tell us if it even has that ability. I do not see a "signature" on your message, so you either have it turned off, or your browser/reader does not support it. In either case, you have nothing to worry about! Sorry I couldn't help you further! Ron

Hello, I saw BISHOP listed as one of the surnames you are researching. I am also searching for my great-grandmother, Sarah BISHOP who is buried in Illinois. She married Jesse CROW, Sr. who died --/--/19--. Sarah BISHOP CROW. That is all the information I have about her or my great-grandfather. I believe the BISHOP and CROW families settled in Pulaski County, Illinois, perhaps Mounds, Illinois. Any connection? Thanks for reading this. Any help in locating any information on this surname would be of great help. I am told that Anton Blazejovsky came to the USA from Tabor Czch in the late 1890's. Thanks in advance for any help that you might be able to provide! Pam < jgerzsik@discover-net.net>
I have been searching my document for your names. I have found many James Green's but nothing that matches your search. Sorry. If you need additional look-up, let me know. ag

Forwarded by listowner - incorrect address used.
Hi Everyone, We have been through this before, but we will do it again! At this time, approximately 87% of the messages being sent to the list are bouncing to my trash can due to not being addresssed correctly. The instructions for using the list are sent to everyone when they first subscribe, I have posted the Welcome message in this forum for all to see, and the instructions are attached to the bottom of every message that passes through the list, and I have personally sent messages telling people how to do it. I am writing them here for the last time this week: When sending a message to the list, use the following address - ONLY: <surname-query-l@rootsweb.com> When subscribing or unsubscribing, use the following address - ONLY: <surname-query-l-request@rootsweb.com> - for the regular mail version <surname-query-d-request@rootsweb.com> - for the digest version If you still do not understand, please let me know and I will be more than happy to help you in any way I can. Next, you MUST be a subscriber to this list in order to post to it. Although you think you are subscribed, there is a device that monitors the number of mail bounces recieved from you. If you have more than 8 bounces, for whatever reason, the servers at Rootsweb will automagically unsubscribe you from the list. When I catch a non-subscriber sending a message, I WILL send them a notification that their mail has not gone through and that they must subscribe, and usually forward the message to the list. Messages that are incorrectly addressed will be returned to the sender or hit the bit bucket from here out. I am spending more time responding to all the badly addressed messages than I can give. I will send out ONE (1) courtesy note and forward the message from here out - after that, they go to the can. I apologize to those of you that have to see this again. This is for the people that don't bother to read the welcome message, ignore my posts, and pretend the taglines aren't there. Thank you, Ron Lahti Surname-Query Listowner

Well here goes nothing. I just think this guys middle name would make him an easy one to track down. His name: William Lancelot HODGES, b. 1826 in Fluvanna/Albemarle Co., VA or nearby. Married Elizabeth NIMMO (d/o David NIMMO & Polly SULLIVAN) in 1847 in Albemarle Co. & moved to Monroe Co., VA sometime after the 1850 Census. Moved to Kanawha Co., VA sometime after the 1860 Census. Died in 1906 in Charleston, WV & buried in the Spring Hill Cemetary in Charleston along with his Wife Elizabeth and one of their Children that died young. Two females as Children: Sarah Frances (my great great Grandmother) & Fanny were born in Monroe Co. in 1859 & 1862?. Interested in finding out about any Siblings or Ancestors & if he is a s/o Benjamin HODGES & Elizabeth SINGLETON from Fluvanna. Benjamin was listed as a Shoemaker in the 1850 VA Census in Albemarle (as William was ) and lived a few houses away from William. Thanks.
