MJM, I've some marriages between GUINN and BROYLES in Washington Co., TN, but have no data on any in Sevier Co. Concerning your Charles and John B. being born in NC, remember that prior to 1794, Tennessee was actually part of NC, so the census is correct when it indicates that they were born in NC, even though the actual physical location later became TN. You are dealing with a period of history that gets very confusing when trying to find out exactly where events took place. And, finding source documents can sometimes be very difficult for this period. This article was from a newspaper in Troy, Obion County, Tn. and was sent to me by Mr. Ben Brewer. This is being posted here because Annis (Anna) lived here at one time. She appears on the 1840 census of Stewart co, Tn. with her husband Francis Collins b. March 11, 1791 S.C. Francis Collins died in 1844. OLDEST WOMAN IN AMERICA Mrs. Anna Collins of Troy, Tennessee Is in her 108th year. Mrs. Anna Collins of Troy, Tennessee is probably the oldest woman in the United States. She was born in Robertson County, Tennessee April 17, 1788 and is therefore in her 108th year. Her husband, Francis Collins, was born March 11, 1791 and came from South Carolina to West Tennessee. He was one of the most noted methodist evangelists that was ever in the south. It is said of him that in one of his revival meetings such enthusiasm was manifested that there were in two weeks 845 conversions and 456 accessions to the church. Five children were born to Francis and Anna Collins, two of whom are still living, the eldest being a man of three score and six years. She has used tobacco constantly for fifty-five years and is as strong today as most women at the age of 45. Does anyone know or connect Annis (Anna) Collins? How do I find out the Ward for an address in NYC? 2128 Lexington Ave., Manhattan 1470 Amsterdam Ave., Manhattan 536 - 112th, Manhattan About 3 weeks ago, I am the one who was so discouraged looking for information in NYC. I have gained some ground but still don't know any more than I did before. Just to bring you up to speed. Henrietta Young married Charles Sweisberger, June 1912. She being the daughter of William Young and Rachel Hazel. Known siblings - William and Amelia. What do I find in the 1900 federal census soundex? Wm, Rachel W., Johnnie, Charles, Nettie, Wm, Emma, and George 1920 - no Wm and family; but I do find John, Charles, Amelia, and George living with a step father, Frank Melche. I spent $20.00 and mailed to Lineages for a search. No Rachel. Now maybe I know why Nettie aka Henrietta never talked about her folks. They died before 1920 and looks like her mother remarried. I still don't know if I have the right family. I haven't written for school records as I can't find an address to write to. I have looked in the NYC phone book, and none of them make sense to me. I do have the papers made out to take to the SS office to see what I can find out about these children. One of you told me I could pay $7.00 directly to the local office and get my information. Thank you for any suggestions.
