---------- > From: Amy Brown <sab@tallassee.net> She married James Talbert Wigley. There is some confusion as to whether Miller is her maiden name and the name Vesper is from a previous marriage. But I believe that Miller is her maiden name and Vesper a middle name since they had a daughter named Vessie L. They had 7 children: Joseph Forney, Arvall, Gordon, Vessie L, Aubury, Flossie, and Lemie Elred. Any info would be appreciated. >

My ancestors by this name originated in Alsace, France. I don't know how or when they left. I suspect that they left on a small boat or raft, under cover of darkness, and left from a Scandinavian Port. I am equeally sure that neither France or Germany would grant them permission to leave because no one really wanted to move there, since the two countries were always warring over ownership. I see French & German & Scandinavian influence in the spelling of given names. The earliest record of this family was at St. Domingue in the Carribian. They left , I am sure during the revolt of the 1790's. The next appeared in New Orleans, LA about 1827. I need to know: 1. Where & when they left the Old World? 2. Name of ship? 3. Where did they go first? 4. When & how there arrived St. Domingue? 5. Where did they go before New Orleans, LA? Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Please answer directly. Looking for the family of William(Uncle Billy) HAMPTON. Census records from Missouri where he died list the state he was born in as North Carolina. He was born Aug 8 1789. I have been told recently that part of what is now Tennessee was once part of North Carolina. Does anyone know which part of Tennessee used to be North Carolina? Maybe I have hit such a brick wall on William in North Carolina because I should be looking in Tennessee. Grateful for all help and will share all information I have with anyone researching the Hampton family in any state. Thanks for your time Jaime JLee196@aol.com
