I found this on KEIGHLEY in Fayette Co, PA. Not sure if your line, of course. "This family are of English birth and residence for many generations, the English home being in Yorkshire, where Jeremiah Keighley lived and died in the city of Leeds. He was a wool buyer and a member of the Church of Englad. He married and had sone, also 3 daughters." mention is made of several who emigrated to PA. No Jonathansm tho. Interesting sounding people. Give me a friggin break! We arn't ALL in the military sgt, so, STUFF YOUR RULES! In a message dated 98-03-09 02:42:57 EST, you write: << Someone just sent his/her email, again acting against the best principles of the List, to over 800 subscribers. Instead of continuing to excuse and make allowances for those who do not follow the rules, why don't you give a little support to the Listowner? Yes, all of us were "newbies" at one time or another, BUT, most of us had the intelligence to read the danged Welcome Letter and follow the instructions !!!!! Continuing to aid and abet those who don't wish to conform does nothing but thwart the efforts of Listowners who are trying their best to keep their Lists working the best for the most. Isn't it about time that this society of ours stops this making excuses for others and DEMANDS that rules be followed? If no one is ever held accountable for his/her actions, how in Hades can we ever expect order and discipline? Or are those two words something that no one is willing to even speak of any more? It sure makes it easy for citizens to spout this ignorant lack of understanding of what makes society work, when they excuse others' failure to follow rules and customs. It only serves to show their own unwillingness to follow rules, laws, and customs. After all, if you can get everyone to make allowances for not abiding by rules, then you can feel free to break the rules yourself. Isn't that what it's all about? If we, as a nation, can come to accept the precept that following rules is archaic, passe, worn-out, not "socially" or "politically" correct, then doesn't that excuse ANY behavior by us????? Damnit (yes, I uttered a profanity, and if you don't like it, sue me!), follow the rules or get off line!!!!! And STOP this unnecessary chatter about how you don't see anything wrong with those who don't follow the rules. SgtGeorge >>
I need lots of help on this one. My great grandfather Linne Stillman lived in Arkansas. I have no information on him whatsoever. I believe his wife's name was Lola (maiden name unknown). Had two daughters - Margaret Lola Stillman b. in 1908 (my grandmother) and Hazel Stillman b. in 1909 both born possibly in Elkhart, Kansas. Is the last name Stillman English? I have been reading lists of passengers who arrived in America and most of the last names that are Stillman sailed over from Russia and Poland. Very confusing. If anyone can shed light on the last name Stillman or if anyone has Stillman in their family tree, please write to me. Thanks in advance, Ginette g1vanden@airmail.net

Searching for the birthplace of Albert STOCKEBRAND, married in York, Pa 1853 and died in Hampton Va. Vet Hospital 2-10-1903. I have been unable to locate when he and his future bride (Barbara BIEN) arrived in New York. Any ideas as to where to go from here would be appreciated. I have his Civil War records and they list him as being born in Prussia But 1850 census list him as being born in Westfalen. Is One a State and the other a city. I could only find them as Cities (or whatever they are called in Germany). Need help. Thank you very much in advance. PJShane299@aol.com

To All, I would like to apologize for the total disruption of this list that my original posting started. It was in response to my posting as listed above that the original complaint was responding to. Stupid me, I still don't know what I did that was so wrong. Once again, I apologize for the uproar that my posting started and in order not to stir up any more trouble, just unsubscribe me.
OF BEING IGNORED. George W. Durman wrote: > Ron, if I were still Listowner, I would unsubscribe all these supporters > of anarchy and put them on the "reject" list at RootsWeb. I was personally hoping that it would not come down to these type of threats and actions. As you know, I had cut back on the "reject" list considerably. I have tried very hard to allow this list to run with as little moderation as possible. I feel that a "heavy hand" is not appropriate. HOWEVER - I am fed up with people that cannot or will not follow the simple guidelines this list asks of them. I am fed up with being ignored by those that think they can run rampant and do whatever they care to do. A few people here will remember that I promised to unsub those that did not want to listen to what I requested. I meant it and it still applies. I have already unsubbed 14 people and placed them on the reject list. Any other takers? ANY mail list that a person subscribes to has rules. They are there for a reason and expected to be followed. In most cases, those rules are established guidelines from Rootsweb itself. I want the subject closed NOW. End of discussion. If you want to take it up with me, do so in PRIVATE EMAIL. I will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
George W. Durman wrote: > by Ron and I have decided that if I were he, I would reconfigure the List so > that no message would get posted unless it conformed to the standards that > he has set. OK, I give... how in the hell can I do that? Are there tricks I am not aware of yet? Speak, wiseman! Ron
Cliff, please stop undermining the efforts of the Listowner. If you don't want to follow the rules, unsubscribe. And to compare the Listowner's efforts to run an orderly List to a Harold Helm List is a low blow that is really not worthy of comment. You are enjoying a free service here and if you don't like the RIGIDITY or the lack of FUN, why don't you subscribe to a service where you have to pay a monthly fee just to post and read email to the List? I can't believe that you would send such a message to a List, that is available only because some poor Listowner devotes many hours a day to the List, endures stupidity and ignorance, and still keeps the List running, despite lack of discipline and adherence to rules by some few of the subscribers. Ron, if I were still Listowner, I would unsubscribe all these supporters of anarchy and put them on the "reject" list at RootsWeb. Tammy, rules are rules. If you don't like them, unsubscribe and go to a mailing list that allows you to do anything you wish. I believe that would be called an unmonitored list and would result in anarchy in about one week. And, you should learn not to type in ALL CAPS, and also not to quote entire messages to which you are responding. God help us !!!!!
